Huma Qureshi’s Cousin Stabbed to Death in Delhi Parking Row

Fatal dispute over scooter parking escalates

Asif Qureshi, 42, cousin of Bollywood actor Huma Qureshi, was brutally stabbed to death in southeast Delhi’s Bhogal area on Thursday night following a heated dispute over a parked scooter, police said. Two teenagers, Ujjwal (19) and Gautam (18), brothers living just meters from Asif’s Church Lane residence, have been apprehended in connection with the murder.

The incident, captured on CCTV, unfolded around 10:30 p.m. when Asif asked a neighbor to move a two-wheeler blocking his home’s entrance. The confrontation escalated rapidly, with Ujjwal allegedly stabbing Asif in the chest with a “poker-type” weapon. Asif collapsed and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was declared dead. A case under sections 103(1) (murder) and 3(5) (common intention) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita has been registered at Hazrat Nizamuddin police station, with Asif’s body sent for post-mortem.

Asif’s wife, Shaheen, alleged the attack was premeditated, citing a prior assault by the same group in November 2024 over the same parking issue. “They were jealous of him,” she claimed, describing how Ujjwal and others abused and attacked Asif after he requested the scooter be moved. Saleem Qureshi, Asif’s uncle and Huma’s father, called the killing a “heinous crime over a trivial matter,” noting Asif’s simple life as a chicken supplier.

Police are analyzing CCTV footage and interviewing residents to verify claims of longstanding hostility. The case reflects a disturbing trend of parking disputes turning deadly in Delhi, with a similar incident in northwest Delhi claiming a life in March 2025.
