Haryana Assembly Budget Session: CM Saini Condemns IYC Protest, Highlights AI Hubs and Farm Relief
CM Saini condemned IYC workers for their shirtless protest inside the AI Impact Summit venue on February 20.
Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on Thursday strongly condemned the Indian Youth Congress (IYC) for staging a “shirtless protest” at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, saying the act embarrassed the country on the global stage.
Speaking during the ongoing budget session of the Vidhan Sabha, Saini described the protest as “highly condemnable” and criticised the Congress-affiliated workers for disrespecting a premier event organised under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “The AI Impact Summit drew participation from across the globe. The indecent act by Youth Congress workers embarrassed India internationally,” Saini said.
He added, in Hindi, “Congress ke logo ne hi desh ko duniya mein apmanit ka kaam kiya hai; iski jitne ninda ke jaye, utna kam hai,” highlighting the perceived severity of the insult. The chief minister's remarks reflect heightened political tension as the budget session discusses key state initiatives.
Meanwhile, Saini highlighted Haryana’s ongoing development priorities, including the establishment of AI hubs, farmer relief measures, and infrastructure development, framing the state’s progress against the backdrop of the incident.
The episode has sparked debate across political and social media circles, with opposition leaders defending the protest as a form of political expression, while ruling party members emphasise national image and protocol at international forums.
