Gujarat Man Lets Landlord Rape Wife and Minor Daughter Over Rent

Police in Gujarat’s Morbi district have arrested a man and a landlord in connection with a serious criminal case involving sexual abuse and exploitation within a rented household. The case came to light after a complaint was filed by a relative of the victim family.

According to police, the family originally hailed from Surendranagar and had relocated to Morbi around six months ago in search of work and better livelihood opportunities. They were residing in rented accommodation with a monthly rent of ₹2,000 but reportedly fell behind on payments due to financial hardship.

Investigators said the landlord and the tenant’s husband allegedly entered into a criminal arrangement that led to the exploitation of the man’s wife and minor daughter in lieu of unpaid rent. The matter was later reported to authorities after the victim’s relative became aware of the situation and approached the police.

Following the complaint, police registered a case under stringent provisions, including the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, and arrested both the landlord and the father. Officials stated that the investigation revealed the involvement of multiple individuals, and efforts are underway to trace others suspected to be connected to the case.

Deputy Superintendent of Police JM Lal confirmed that both accused had allegedly orchestrated the crime. “The minor girl’s father and the landlord orchestrated the abuse,” he said, adding that further investigation is in progress.Authorities have said the case is being treated with utmost seriousness, and additional legal proceedings will follow as evidence is examined and witness statements are recorded.
