Gautam Adani Named Founding Member of Bhutan’s Gelephu Mindfulness City

Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, has been appointed as a founding member of the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) in Bhutan, a landmark announcement made by the GMC Authority on January 3, 2026, highlighting his extensive expertise in large-scale infrastructure as a perfect alignment with Bhutan's unique values-driven development model.

The GMC Authority emphasized that Adani's decades of leadership in energy, logistics, transportation, and renewable systems complements the city's ambitious vision to create future-ready infrastructure while rigorously protecting natural ecosystems and human well-being, positioning him as a key contributor to this pioneering global initiative.

Gelephu Mindfulness City, envisioned by His Majesty King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, represents a bold response to contemporary global uncertainties, offering an alternative development pathway that seamlessly integrates Bhutanese spiritual traditions and environmental harmony with cutting-edge innovation, technology, and economic prosperity.

The announcement strengthens the deepening partnership between Bhutan and the Adani Group, marked by the simultaneous signing of a Memorandum of Understanding with Druk Green Power Corporation for the joint development of 5,000 MW hydropower capacity, alongside the official commencement of the 570 MW Wangchhu Hydro Electricity Project in the presence of Bhutan's Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay.
