Ganesh Chaturthi Lights Up Nepal with Colorful Feasts & Devotion!

Nepalese Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi with prayers, feasts, and vibrant temple festivities.

Hindus throughout Nepal joyously celebrated Ganesh Chaturthi on Wednesday, paying homage to Lord Ganesh, the revered deity of wisdom, prosperity, and obstacle removal. Observed on the fourth day of Bhadra Shukla per the lunar calendar, the festival drew thousands of devotees to prominent temples, including Kamaladi Ganesh, Ashok Binayak, and Surya Binayak in Kathmandu, as well as shrines in other cities across the nation.

Worshippers flocked to these sacred sites, offering flowers, fruits, and sweets to seek blessings for good fortune, knowledge, and prosperity. The Newar community in Kathmandu marked the occasion with a traditional feast featuring beaten rice, boiled and fried eggs, dried fish, meat, and bara made from black lentils, beans, ginger, and garlic. These offerings were first dedicated to Lord Ganesh before being shared as prasad among the faithful.

The celebrations were enriched with devotees singing religious songs and playing traditional music, creating a vibrant atmosphere of devotion and festivity. Ganesh Chaturthi in Nepal underscored the deep cultural and spiritual significance of the festival, uniting communities in reverence and celebration.
