Fátima Bosch Takes Miss Universe 2025 Crown; India Misses Top 12 Cut

Mexico’s Fátima Bosch wins Miss Universe 2025; India’s Manika reaches the Top 30 but misses the finalists.

Miss Mexico Fátima Bosch was crowned Miss Universe 2025 on Thursday evening at the Impact Challenger Hall, succeeding Denmark’s Victoria Kjær Theilvig in a ceremony that drew millions of viewers worldwide. The 24-year-old from Guadalajara overcame early controversy—including being publicly called “dumb” by Thai pageant director Nawat Itsaragrisil—to claim the title under the pageant’s theme “The Power of Love”.

India’s representative, Manika Vishwakarma, 23, made it to the top 30 but was eliminated before the top 12, ending India’s hopes of a fourth Miss Universe crown after the triumphs of Sushmita Sen (1994), Lara Dutta (2000), and Harnaaz Sandhu (2021). Vishwakarma was the first contestant announced in the top 30 round.

The event, hosted for the first time in Thailand, was overshadowed by multiple controversies, including allegations of rigging and conflicts of interest, leading to the resignation of three judges before the finale. Despite the turbulence, Bosch’s victory was widely praised for her poised responses in the final question round on resilience and unity.

Miss Universe 2026 will celebrate the pageant’s 75th anniversary in Puerto Rico, organisers confirmed at the closing ceremony.
