Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic Praises PM Modi On His 25 Years In Public Service

Vucic praised Modi’s leadership during his 25-year public service milestone.

Former Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for strengthening India's position on the global stage, describing his achievements as “tremendous”. Vucic made the remarks during a pre-election broadcast as he discussed what he described as attempts to undermine popular political leaders. He also highlighted Modi's long tenure in public life and his contribution to India's international profile.

Vucic said Modi had “raised India to the heavens” and argued that efforts were being made to portray the Indian leader as unsuccessful despite what he described as major accomplishments. He presented the situation as part of a wider pattern involving prominent political leaders, without providing specific details about the foreign powers he referred to in his remarks.

The Serbian leader also congratulated Modi on completing 25 years in public service at the highest level. In a message posted on X, Vucic referred to Modi's time as Gujarat Chief Minister and his subsequent tenure as Prime Minister, expressing his wishes for Modi's continued service to India. He also praised what he described as India's elevated position in global affairs under Modi.

The remarks came as Modi marked 25 years of continuous service as head of government, beginning with his tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister in 2001 and continuing with his service as Prime Minister from 2014. The milestone has drawn messages from political leaders and supporters highlighting his long career in public office. The Union Cabinet also adopted a resolution commemorating the occasion.

Vucic's comments also come ahead of Serbia's October 25 parliamentary election. He resigned as president on September 27 and is seeking to enter the race for prime minister, with the Serbian Progressive Party naming him as the lead candidate on its electoral list. Serbia's early parliamentary election was formally scheduled for October 25 following the dissolution of parliament.

The Serbian leader has previously expressed support for Modi, including after the Indian Prime Minister became the country's longest-serving elected prime minister. His latest remarks combine that longstanding praise with congratulations on Modi's 25-year milestone, as both India and Serbia remain engaged with their respective domestic and international political developments.
