‘Finest Prime Minister’: Fadnavis Salutes PM Modi’s 12-Year Journey And Public Impact

Maharashtra CM cites economic growth, welfare expansion and political success under Modi’s leadership.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Friday praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for completing 12 years in office, describing the period as a “360-degree transformation” for India. Speaking to reporters in Mumbai, Fadnavis said Modi’s tenure has been marked by significant political, economic and social changes, and congratulated him on becoming India’s longest-serving elected Prime Minister.

The Chief Minister noted that Modi has surpassed the tenure record previously held by Jawaharlal Nehru. Extending congratulations on behalf of Maharashtra’s citizens, Fadnavis described Modi as not only the longest-serving elected Prime Minister but also one of the most influential leaders in the country’s contemporary history. He added that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) has achieved unprecedented political success under Modi’s leadership.

Highlighting economic indicators, Fadnavis said India remains the world’s fastest-growing major economy and credited the central government’s policies for strengthening the country’s global standing. He pointed to the NDA’s political presence in 22 states and said the alliance now governs a large majority of India’s geographical territory. According to him, this reflects a level of political expansion rarely seen in Indian electoral history.

The Chief Minister also cited government data and initiatives that he said demonstrate progress in poverty reduction and social welfare. He stated that more than 25 crore people have moved out of extreme poverty over the past decade and highlighted the success of the Lakhpati Didi programme, under which millions of women have achieved financial self-reliance. He further noted increased participation of women in the armed forces and the expansion of welfare schemes aimed at improving livelihoods.

On the economic front, Fadnavis pointed to the growth of Direct Benefit Transfers (DBT), rising tax collections, increased capital expenditure on infrastructure, and the global expansion of India’s Unified Payments Interface (UPI). He said investments in roads, highways and public infrastructure have accelerated significantly, while welfare programmes such as the free foodgrain scheme continue to provide support to millions of beneficiaries across the country.

Addressing state-level issues, Fadnavis said the Maharashtra government has constituted a committee to oversee the implementation of the farm loan waiver programme, which he said has already benefited around 40 lakh farmers. He also urged farmers to diversify crop patterns beyond cotton and soybean cultivation and assured support measures, including adequate fodder availability, ahead of the upcoming agricultural season.
