Fanaticism Fuels War, Only Shiva Can Save Us: RSS Chief

Bhagwat warns of global chaos, urges Shiva devotion.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat on Thursday issued a stark warning against rising fanaticism, stating that it breeds anger, hatred, and ultimately, war. Speaking at a religious function during his visit to a Shiva temple in Nagpur, Bhagwat emphasized that many of the world’s problems stem from deeply rooted tendencies in human nature.

"Man's fanaticism creates anger and hatred which leads to fights and wars," he said, adding that these destructive impulses are not just social or political but spiritual in origin. He identified five or six tendencies that lie at the root of global unrest, asserting that without inner transformation, humanity is headed toward destruction.

To counter this, Bhagwat urged individuals to turn to Lord Shiva, advocating a life centered on humility, compassion, and detachment. "Devotion to Lord Shiva helps in transforming these harmful tendencies. A truly sacred life is one where we take a step each day toward humility and universal love," he explained.

He also shared a cautionary vision for the future. "The world is changing rapidly. If the right steps are not taken, destruction is inevitable. But if we do act wisely, a new and elevated form of humanity can emerge," he said.

Bhagwat concluded with a call for India to take spiritual leadership on the global stage. "India has the strength to transform not just itself but also the lives of people around the world. It is our duty to guide this change," he stated.
