Fallen Soldiers’ Families In Chhattisgarh To Receive Rs 50 Lakh
State hikes ex gratia, welfare benefits for soldiers’ families.
In a heartfelt tribute to the nation’s bravehearts, the Chhattisgarh government has announced a significant increase in financial support for families of soldiers who sacrifice their lives in war or military operations, raising the ex gratia payment from Rs 20 lakh to Rs 50 lakh. The decision, finalized during a Rajya Sainik Board (RSB) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Mantralaya Mahanadi Bhawan in Nava Raipur on Monday, underscores the state’s commitment to honoring its fallen heroes and supporting their loved ones.
“Our soldiers lay down their lives for the security of the nation. We bow to their valour and sacrifice,” Sai declared, emphasizing the government’s duty to ensure the welfare of those who serve. The 140 crore people of India, he added, rely on these “sons of Bharat Mata,” making their families’ well-being a collective responsibility. The meeting also reviewed existing welfare schemes for war widows, ex-servicemen, and their dependents, with members offering suggestions to further enhance support, which Sai promised to consider seriously.
Beyond the ex gratia hike, the government rolled out additional measures: gallantry award recipients will now receive Rs 1 crore (up from Rs 40 lakh), the ‘Jangi Inaam’ motivational grant for soldiers’ parents has increased from Rs 5,000 to Rs 20,000 annually, and soldiers disabled in combat will get Rs 30 lakh instead of Rs 10 lakh. Additionally, serving soldiers, ex-servicemen, widows, and dependents will benefit from a stamp duty exemption of up to Rs 25 lakh on their first land or house purchase, easing financial burdens for homeownership.

As Chhattisgarh steps up its commitment, the enhanced benefits signal a powerful message of gratitude, aiming to secure a brighter future for the families of those who make the ultimate sacrifice.
