The explosion occurred in Moallem Boulevard, a bustling area of Bandar Abbas, adding to local concerns over safety and infrastructure. Authorities have urged residents to stay clear of the area while rescue and investigation operations continue.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions in the region following the deployment of a U.S. aircraft carrier group near the Persian Gulf, amid escalating rhetoric from Washington. Analysts suggest that while the cause of the explosion is still under review, the timing adds to the atmosphere of uncertainty in the strategically important Gulf port city.
