Epstein Files: Publicist Email Places Mira Nair at Maxwell's 2009 Afterparty

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani’s mother, acclaimed filmmaker Mira Nair, has been mentioned in the newly released Epstein files after attending an afterparty for her 2009 film Amelia.

The U.S. Justice Department on Friday released over three million pages of documents, including 2,000 videos and 180,000 images, related to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. Among these documents surfaced an email dated October 21, 2009, sent by publicist Peggy Siegal to Epstein, providing details of the afterparty hosted at Ghislaine Maxwell’s Manhattan townhouse.

The gathering was reportedly attended by former U.S. President Bill Clinton, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos, and other high-profile figures. Siegal’s email described the guests’ reaction to Nair’s film as “tepid”, noting that it was better received by women. The message also contained offbeat commentary on other attendees and the party’s location, including references to Bloomingdale’s and free promotional events.

“Just left Ghislaine's townhouse… after party for film. Bill Clinton and Jeff Bezos were there… Jean Pigoni, director Mira Nair… etc.,” Siegal wrote. She added, “Film received tepid reaction although women like it much more… Hillary Swank and Gen: at a stupid party in Bloomingdale's cheap sportswear department… very weird. Studio went for free party from store and windows for a month… Going to be in Wall Street 2 tomorrow… More to come. xoxo Peg.”

The release also highlighted other high-profile names, including Tesla CEO Elon Musk, who appeared in the files through email exchanges with Epstein. In November 2012, Musk enquired about attending Epstein’s private island, writing, “Probably just Talulah and me. What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?” While the documents reveal Nair’s attendance at the party, there is no indication of wrongdoing on her part.
