Drone Flights Banned In Tiruvannamalai During Amit Shah’s Visit

Drone operations have been prohibited around key locations in Tiruvannamalai for two days as authorities stepped up security for Union Home Minister Amit Shah's visit to the temple town on Saturday. The restrictions cover helipads, venues and designated VIP routes, with the district administration also banning remotely controlled aircraft and other unmanned aerial vehicles as part of the security arrangements.

Shah is beginning a two-day visit to Tamil Nadu and Puducherry on Saturday. After completing his engagements in Maharashtra, he is scheduled to fly to Chennai before travelling by helicopter to Tiruvannamalai, where he is expected to arrive around 4:20 pm. From the helipad, he will travel by road to Sri Ramanasramam on Girivalam Road and is expected to spend about an hour there before visiting the Arunachaleswarar Temple for darshan.

The Home Minister is scheduled to leave Tiruvannamalai around 6 pm and travel by road to Puducherry for the next stage of his tour. Ahead of his arrival, the district administration and police have intensified security across the town. Helipads have been prepared at the Government Arts College grounds and near Unnamalai Amman Nagar along the Girivalam route to facilitate the helicopter movement.

On Friday, Central Reserve Police Force personnel and advance security officials conducted a helicopter landing rehearsal at the designated helipads. Advance security officials from the Union Home Ministry also held a detailed meeting with District Collector Vandana Garg and Superintendent of Police Udayakumar at the Collectorate. Security arrangements were subsequently reviewed with officials from different departments involved in the visit.

Security teams inspected the routes connecting the helipads with Sri Ramanasramam and the Arunachaleswarar Temple, as well as the road route Shah is expected to take while travelling towards Puducherry. Separate inspections were also carried out at the ashram and temple to assess arrangements and identify potential security concerns ahead of the visit.

Collector Vandana Garg said the drone restrictions were imposed to ensure public safety and provide comprehensive security for the Union Home Minister. The restrictions will remain in force on Saturday and Sunday around the designated locations and routes. More than 1,000 police personnel have been deployed across Tiruvannamalai under a three-tier security arrangement for Shah's visit.
