Donald Trump Redefines Iran Ceasefire As “Shooting In Moderate Manner”
Trump defines Iran ceasefire as “moderate shooting” and hints at peace talks.
United States President Donald Trump has offered a striking and unconventional description of the term “ceasefire” in the context of ongoing tensions with Iran, suggesting that the understanding of the concept differs significantly in that part of the world. His remarks came during an interaction with reporters at the White House, where he was asked about recent military exchanges between US and Iranian forces.
Responding to questions on how he defines a ceasefire, Trump said it was “pretty much the way it is,” before adding that in certain regions, a ceasefire could mean “you’re shooting in a more moderate manner.” He further remarked that in that part of the world, “a ceasefire is when you’re shooting in a more moderate manner,” describing the situation with a smile and calling it “not bad.”
The comments come amid heightened military tensions between the United States and Iran, with both sides reportedly exchanging strikes in recent days. The developments have raised concerns about the stability of an already fragile ceasefire arrangement, which has been repeatedly tested by sporadic escalations and retaliatory actions.

Trump also suggested that there was a possibility of reaching a broader peace agreement with Iran in the near future, indicating that a deal could potentially be finalised “over the weekend.” However, negotiations remain uncertain, with differences persisting over the terms of any long-term settlement, particularly regarding Iran’s nuclear programme and regional military activity.
According to reports, the ceasefire framework had initially included provisions for a temporary pause in hostilities and renewed diplomatic discussions. However, subsequent disagreements and renewed exchanges of fire have complicated efforts to maintain stability, with both Washington and Tehran accusing each other of violations.
The situation continues to draw international attention, with concerns growing over whether diplomatic efforts can prevent further escalation or whether the conflict may return to sustained military confrontation in the coming days.
