Dhoom-Style Robbery on Maharashtra Highway Shows Thieves Looting Bags From Moving Bus
Bike-borne thieves looted bags from a moving Maharashtra bus in a Dhoom-style heist caught on video.
In a cinematic highway robbery straight out of a Bollywood action film, a gang of motorcycle-borne thieves struck a moving private bus on the Solapur-Dhule national highway in Maharashtra’s Beed district, looting at least ten bags containing cash, jewellery, and valuables in broad daylight. The brazen incident, which occurred in October 2025, was recorded by a passenger on a mobile phone, and the video has since gone viral across social media platforms.
The chilling footage shows the meticulously planned heist in motion: two motorcycles closely tail the bus while a pillion rider stands on the shoulders of the biker, grabs the rear ladder of the speeding vehicle, and climbs onto the roof. Once atop the bus, the thief forces open the external luggage compartment and systematically throws bags onto the highway, where two additional motorcycles riding alongside swiftly collect the loot before disappearing.
Police sources confirmed the targeted bus was a private traveller carrying a marriage party, raising fears that the stolen bags contained significant amounts of cash, gold ornaments, and gifts meant for the wedding. Passengers reportedly realised the theft only after reaching their destination and finding the luggage hold almost empty.

Beed Superintendent of Police Navneet Kanwat told reporters that the department has taken serious cognisance of the incident and ordered intensified patrolling on the entire stretch of the Solapur-Dhule highway. Additional nakabandi checkpoints have been set up, plain-clothes teams deployed, and surveillance stepped up using CCTV footage from toll plazas and roadside eateries.
Authorities have noted an alarming rise in similar thefts targeting tourist and wedding buses that halt or slow down on highways in central Maharashtra in recent months. Police have urged passengers to avoid keeping valuables in roof carriers or external compartments and to immediately report any motorcycle suspiciously tailing their vehicle.
An investigation is underway, with technical surveillance and analysis of the viral video expected to help identify the registration numbers of the motorcycles and trace the gang. Senior officers said every effort is being made to arrest the culprits at the earliest and recover the stolen property before it is disposed of.
