Dense Fog Triggers Massive Yamuna Expressway Crash; 4 Killed, 25 Injured
Deadly pile-up on Yamuna Expressway claims lives amid zero visibility.
At least four people were killed and 25 others injured in a catastrophic multi-vehicle collision on the Yamuna Expressway in Mathura early Tuesday morning. Seven buses and three cars were involved in the pile-up, triggered by dense fog that reduced visibility to near zero, with several vehicles subsequently catching fire and intensifying the chaos at the scene.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shlok Kumar confirmed the fatalities and stated that emergency teams responded immediately upon receiving information about the accident. More than a dozen fire tenders and 14 ambulances were deployed to control the blaze, extinguish burning vehicles, and rescue passengers trapped inside the wreckage.
District Magistrate Chandra Prakash Singh described the incident as tragic and unfortunate, emphasising that all injured individuals were reported to be out of danger and were receiving appropriate medical treatment at nearby facilities, including community health centres and the district hospital. Authorities also arranged alternative government vehicles to transport surviving and stranded passengers to safety or their destinations.
