Delhi Touches 34.3°C As Unseasonal Heat Sweeps The City

Delhi records 34.3°C as early warm spell grips the city.

A warm spell gripped New Delhi as temperatures in the city climbed to 34.3 degrees Celsius, making conditions unusually hot for this time of the year. According to the India Meteorological Department, the maximum temperature recorded in the national capital was several degrees above the seasonal average, signaling an early rise in heat levels.

Weather officials said the temperature was recorded at the city’s primary observatory at Safdarjung Observatory, which serves as the official benchmark for Delhi’s weather readings. The unusually high temperature has raised concerns about the onset of warmer conditions earlier than usual, even as winter transitions into spring across northern India.

The warm conditions were accompanied by clear skies and strong sunlight during the day, contributing to the rise in daytime temperatures. Meteorologists said the lack of cloud cover and weak western disturbances allowed heat to build up across the region, pushing temperatures well above normal levels.

Despite the sharp rise in daytime heat, early morning and late evening temperatures have remained relatively moderate. However, weather experts warned that if the current pattern persists, residents could experience an extended warm spell over the coming days.

Delhi has witnessed fluctuating weather conditions in recent weeks, with cooler mornings followed by rapidly increasing daytime temperatures. The sudden rise has prompted health advisories urging residents to stay hydrated and limit prolonged exposure to the sun during peak afternoon hours.

Officials from the India Meteorological Department said they are closely monitoring weather patterns and will issue updates if temperatures continue to rise. While short-term fluctuations are common during the seasonal transition, experts note that early heat waves have become more frequent in recent years due to broader climatic trends.
