Dalai Lama Never Met Jeffrey Epstein: Office Strongly Denies Reports
The Dalai Lama's office firmly denies any meeting or link with Jeffrey Epstein.
The office of the Dalai Lama on Saturday issued a firm clarification rejecting reports and social media claims attempting to link the Tibetan spiritual leader with American sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, after media coverage suggested that his name appeared multiple times in recently surfaced files related to Epstein.
In an official statement released from Dharamsala, the Dalai Lama’s office said there was no truth to the claims and categorically denied any association. “We can unequivocally confirm that His Holiness has never met Jeffrey Epstein or authorized any meeting or interaction with him by anyone on His Holiness’s behalf,” the statement said.
The clarification comes amid renewed global attention on the so-called “Epstein files,” following the release and discussion of documents that reference several prominent international figures. Some reports and social media posts suggested that the Dalai Lama’s name appeared in these files, prompting speculation and online misinformation.

Responding to the reports, the statement noted that attempts were being made to draw misleading conclusions. “Some recent media reports and social media posts concerning the ‘Epstein files’ are attempting to link His Holiness the Dalai Lama with Jeffrey Epstein,” it said, adding that such claims were baseless and incorrect.
The Dalai Lama’s office emphasized that any mention of names in documents does not imply personal contact or consent and warned against the spread of unverified information that could damage reputations. It urged the public and media organizations to rely on verified facts and official clarifications rather than speculation.
Jeffrey Epstein, a convicted sex offender and financier, died in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges. His case continues to generate controversy as documents related to his network and contacts surface periodically. The Dalai Lama’s office said it had issued the clarification to put the record straight and prevent the misuse of the spiritual leader’s name in connection with the case.
