CMBT Murder: Man Absconding For Three Years Arrested By Police
Police arrest fugitive accused in CMBT murder after three years.
Police have arrested a man who had been absconding for nearly three years in connection with a murder that took place near the Chennai Mofussil Bus Terminus (CMBT), one of the city’s busiest transport hubs. Investigators said the suspect had been evading arrest since the crime occurred, despite multiple efforts by law enforcement to track him down.
According to police officials, the accused was allegedly involved in a fatal assault reported in the vicinity of the bus terminus in 2023. After the incident, he fled the area and managed to stay out of reach of authorities while the investigation continued. The case remained open as police teams pursued leads and gathered evidence linking him to the killing.
Officials said the suspect was finally traced and apprehended after sustained surveillance and intelligence gathering. Investigators reportedly monitored his movements and eventually located him outside the city, where he had been living under a different identity to avoid detection. He was taken into custody during a coordinated operation by the police.

The arrest marks a significant development in a case that had remained unresolved for years. Police said they remain committed to pursuing suspects who attempt to evade the law and added that continued investigative efforts played a key role in finally bringing the accused into custody.
