CM Sai Directs Officials To Ensure Safe Return Of Chhattisgarh Tourists From Nepal

Chhattisgarh CM prioritizes tourists’ safety amid Nepal’s violent political protests.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai has directed state officials to ensure the safe return of tourists from Chhattisgarh stranded in Nepal due to escalating violent protests, a government spokesperson announced on Thursday. The directive follows reports of political unrest in Nepal, where demonstrations have disrupted travel and safety for visitors, including those from India.

Sai emphasized that the safety of Chhattisgarh’s citizens is the government’s top priority. “We have received information about tourists from our state in Nepal. Instructions have been issued to officials to take immediate measures for their safe return,” he said in a statement issued Wednesday night. The state is coordinating with the Indian central government to facilitate evacuations and ensure the well-being of stranded individuals.

Nepal plunged into a political crisis on Tuesday after Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned amid widespread protests led by the “Gen Z” movement. Initially sparked by a government ban on social media, the demonstrations escalated into broader demands for accountability, targeting corruption and governance failures. The protests turned violent, with 19 deaths reported and government buildings, including the parliament, set ablaze.
