Chicago Police Investigate Mass Shooting Near 51st And Calumet After Five Injured

At least five people were injured in a mass shooting on Chicago’s South Side late Thursday, with authorities investigating the circumstances surrounding the attack. The shooting occurred near the intersection of 51st Street and South Calumet Avenue, an area located between the Bronzeville and Washington Park neighbourhoods, according to officials. Police responded to reports of gunfire at the location and found multiple victims suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency services transported four of the injured individuals to nearby hospitals for medical treatment.

Authorities said at least two victims were listed in critical condition, while others were reported to be in serious condition. According to reports, two victims were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. Two additional victims were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital and were listed in serious condition. Officials have not yet released details regarding the condition of the fifth victim or provided further information about their medical status. Investigators have not identified any suspects in connection with the shooting and have not announced a possible motive.

Authorities are working to determine what led to the gunfire and whether those involved knew each other before the incident. Police are expected to review available evidence, including witness statements and any surveillance footage from the area.
