Canada Visitor Visa Wait Rises Slightly While Work and Study Permits Hold
Canada visitor visa wait rises slightly for Indian applicants.
Indian applicants for Canadian temporary residence visas are seeing mostly stable processing timelines, although the estimated wait for visitor visas has increased slightly. The latest update shows that visitor visa processing for applicants from India has risen to 31 days, compared with 30 days in the previous estimate.
For Indian applicants seeking Canadian work permits, the estimated processing time remains unchanged at 9 weeks. The figure is below Canada's stated 60-day service standard for applications submitted from outside the country. Applications submitted from within Canada have a service standard of 120 days for initial applications and extensions.
The processing timeline for study permits has also remained steady at 5 weeks for applicants from India. Canada's service standard for study permit applications submitted from outside the country is 60 days, while applications made within Canada for initial permits or extensions have a 120-day service standard.

Indian applicants applying for a super visa are currently facing an estimated processing time of 56 days, unchanged from the previous update. This remains below Canada's stated service standard of 112 days for super visa applications. The processing period can still vary depending on the individual application and circumstances.
The latest figures are estimates rather than guaranteed deadlines. Processing times can differ based on the complexity of an application, the number of applications awaiting review, available processing capacity, requests for additional documents and the need for further verification or checks. Applicants are therefore advised to account for possible variations when planning travel, education or employment in Canada.
Canada is expected to update its temporary residence processing estimates again around August 26, 2026. For Indian applicants, the current position remains largely stable, with work permits at nine weeks, study permits at five weeks and super visas at 56 days. The only notable increase in the latest update is the visitor visa estimate, which has moved up by one day to 31 days.
