Bus Carrying Wedding Guests Falls 200 Metres Off Road in Nepal's Baitadi, 13 Killed, 34 Injured

At least 13 people were killed and 34 others injured after a bus carrying a wedding party plunged off a mountainous road in Nepal, officials said on Thursday. The accident occurred when the bus lost control while navigating a hilly stretch, sending it tumbling down a steep slope. The vehicle was reportedly transporting guests returning from a wedding celebration when the tragedy struck.

Local authorities said rescue teams were rushed to the site soon after the accident was reported. Villagers, police personnel, and emergency responders worked together to pull survivors from the wreckage, often using ropes and makeshift stretchers due to the difficult terrain. The injured were transported to nearby hospitals, with several reported to be in critical condition.

Preliminary information suggests that poor road conditions and the challenging geography of the region may have contributed to the crash, though officials said the exact cause is still under investigation. The bus was travelling along a narrow mountain road, common in many parts of Nepal, where sharp turns and steep drops increase the risk of serious accidents.
