Brutal Murder in Nand Nagri Shocks Delhi

Seven arrested in fatal group assault

A 21-year-old man, Ashish, was brutally beaten to death by a group of men in northeast Delhi’s Nand Nagri area, triggering outrage in the community. Delhi Police arrested seven suspects—Vishal alias Kaku (22), Ankit (22), Himanshu (25), Kishan alias Rahul alias Charlie (30), Chetan alias Luckey (22), Gaurav alias Pillu (22), and Sumit alias Sinchu (22)—all local residents, following a swift investigation. At least three of the accused have prior criminal records, including charges of murder and attempted murder, police confirmed.

The incident came to light after a PCR call was received at Nand Nagri police station, reporting a man being attacked on Balmiki Marg. By the time officers arrived, Ashish had been rushed to Guru Teg Bahadur (GTB) Hospital by his family. Despite medical efforts, he succumbed to his injuries on August 8, 2025. Preliminary investigations suggest the attack stemmed from a local dispute, though the exact motive remains under scrutiny.

Police have intensified patrols in Nand Nagri, a communally sensitive area with a history of violence, including the 2020 riots that killed 53 people. The case has raised concerns about rising violent crime in Delhi, with residents demanding stricter enforcement and justice for Ashish. Authorities are analyzing CCTV footage and witness statements to uncover further details, with a case registered under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for murder.
