#BreakingNews: One Militant Killed as Army Foils Infiltration In Uri, J&K

Army stops infiltration in Uri sector; militant killed.

Indian Army troops, in a joint operation with Jammu and Kashmir Police, successfully foiled an infiltration attempt along the Line of Control in the Uri sector of Baramulla district early Sunday, March 15, 2026, neutralizing one Pakistani terrorist in the Buchhar area. Acting on specific intelligence inputs from J&K Police, alert soldiers from the Srinagar-based Chinar Corps launched "Operation Diggi 2" on the intervening night of March 14-15.

Troops spotted suspicious movement in dense thickets, challenged the infiltrator, and engaged after the terrorist opened indiscriminate fire, leading to his elimination in the ensuing gunfight. Security forces recovered warlike stores from the site, including an AK rifle, pistols, and a substantial cache of ammunition, confirming the infiltrator's Pakistani origin and links to cross-border terror networks. Anti-infiltration search operations continue in the area to rule out accomplices, with the Army emphasizing heightened vigilance along this volatile LoC stretch.

The Uri sector, part of north Kashmir's Baramulla district, has long been a hotspot for infiltration bids due to its rugged terrain and proximity to Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. This incident follows a similar thwarting on March 10 in Rajouri's Nowshera sector, where another terrorist was gunned down, underscoring persistent attempts amid seasonal thaws facilitating crossings.

Such operations highlight the Army and BSF's coordinated efforts to curb infiltration, exfiltration, drone incursions, and smuggling from across the border. No casualties were reported among Indian personnel, reflecting effective ambush tactics and real-time intelligence sharing.

The neutralization reinforces India's robust border security posture, deterring terror outfits amid ongoing counter-terrorism campaigns in Jammu and Kashmir. Further details from the operation are awaited as searches persist.
