Bomb Threat by Passenger Triggers Panic on EasyJet Flight

Man arrested after threatening to bomb plane, targeting Trump.

A 41-year-old man was arrested after causing panic on an EasyJet flight from London Luton to Glasgow on July 27, 2025, by shouting, “I’m going to bomb the plane,” along with “Death to America,” “Death to Trump,” and “Allahu Akbar,” an Arabic phrase meaning “God is great.” The outburst, captured in viral social media videos, prompted a swift emergency landing at Glasgow Airport around 8:20 AM.

Passengers described a chaotic scene as the man, emerging from the aircraft’s toilet, made aggressive threats and pushed cabin crew. A courageous passenger tackled him to the floor, with others assisting to restrain him until police intervened. “He was a big guy, about six foot, and the crew were petite women,” a witness told The Sun. “When he pushed them, things changed.” No bomb was found after a thorough search.

Police Scotland confirmed the arrest, stating, “Officers boarded the plane on its arrival, and a 41-year-old man was arrested and remains in custody. Enquiries are continuing.” Counter-terrorism officers are reviewing the footage to assess the man’s intent, believed to be an isolated incident. The suspect reportedly admitted he had no bomb and aimed to “send a message to Trump,” who was in Scotland for trade talks.

EasyJet emphasized that safety was never compromised, with a spokesperson stating, “Our crew are trained to act quickly to ensure the safety of the flight and customers.” The airline confirmed the plane landed safely, and police removed the passenger.

The incident coincided with US President Donald Trump’s visit to Scotland, where he announced a deal with EU chief Ursula von der Leyen to resolve a transatlantic tariffs dispute, averting a potential trade war. The timing of the man’s threats, particularly referencing Trump, has sparked widespread discussion online, with some questioning media coverage of the event.

As investigations continue, the incident highlights the challenges airlines face in managing disruptive behavior and the critical role of rapid response protocols to ensure passenger safety.
