#BREAKING: Bomb Blast in Pakistan Kills Five, Injures Seventeen

Roadside Bomb in Naushki Claims Five Lives, Injures Ten

A deadly roadside bomb detonated near a bus carrying security forces in Naushki, Balochistan, on Sunday, killing at least five officers and wounding seventeen others.

The explosion, which occurred in Pakistan’s restive southwestern province, also severely damaged a second nearby bus, according to local police chief Zafar Zamanani. The injured and deceased were swiftly transported to a hospital as rescue efforts unfolded.

Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti condemned the attack, which has yet to be claimed by any group. Suspicion, however, points to the Baloch Liberation Army (BLA), an outlawed separatist outfit recently responsible for a train ambush in the region that killed 26 hostages among 400 captives, ending with security forces eliminating 33 attackers. The oil- and mineral-rich province, Pakistan’s largest yet least populated, has long been a hotspot for ethnic Baloch grievances against the central government, which they accuse of discrimination—a claim Islamabad refutes.

The BLA’s pursuit of independence has fueled a decades-long insurgency, with Naushki’s attack underscoring the persistent volatility. As investigations continue, the incident highlights the challenges facing security forces in Balochistan’s rugged terrain, where such bombings remain a grim hallmark of unrest.
