BJP President Kewal Singh Dhillon Vows to Clear Punjab Employees' DA Dues If Voted In

Punjab BJP president Kewal Singh Dhillon has promised that his party will immediately clear pending dearness allowance dues and pension arrears affecting nearly eight lakh state government employees and pensioners if it comes to power. The pledge formed part of a broader attack on the Aam Aadmi Party administration led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, with Dhillon accusing the government of neglecting the financial concerns of serving and retired public employees.

Speaking to NDTV, Dhillon described the Mann administration as a “Mulazam Virodhi,” or anti-employee, government. He alleged that delayed payments had placed an unfair financial burden on employees and pensioners who depend on salary revisions and retirement benefits. Dearness allowance is periodically revised to help government employees and pensioners offset the effect of inflation, while unpaid instalments can accumulate into substantial arrears over time.

The BJP leader also referred to a recent Punjab and Haryana High Court order, claiming it had exposed what he described as the AAP government’s financial mismanagement and ineffective governance. However, the complete details of the judgment and the precise amount of DA and pension arrears involved were not included in the information available. The state government’s response to Dhillon’s allegations and promise was also not immediately provided.
