BJP MLA’s Son Faces Shocking Rape Charges in Karnataka
Pratik Chauhan accused of assaulting woman under false marriage promises.
A 25-year-old woman from Maharashtra has filed a sexual assault case against Pratik Chauhan, son of BJP MLA Prabhu Chauhan, at the Bidar Women’s Police Station, alleging repeated rapes under the pretext of marriage, police sources confirmed Sunday.
The complainant claims the relationship began two years ago when Pratik initiated regular contact and promised marriage. Based on this assurance, he allegedly brought her to Bengaluru in September 2023, where the first assault occurred in a hotel room. A formal engagement took place on December 25, 2023, at Pratik’s residence in Ghamsubai Bonthi Tanda, Aurad taluk, Bidar, with family members present.
According to the FIR, Pratik repeatedly assaulted the woman between December 2023 and March 2024, luring her to locations like Latur and Shirdi under the guise of travel and religious visits. The complaint also alleges that Pratik coerced her into self-harm to “prove her love,” and when she hesitated, he inflicted a deep cut on her forearm with a blade. The incident came to light after she sought medical treatment in Udgir.
