BJP Chief Nitin Nabin Announces Organisational Reshuffle Across Party Leadership
BJP Announces Major Organisational Reshuffle, Names Key Leaders
The Bharatiya Janata Party on Monday announced its new team of national office-bearers, completing a major organisational reshuffle seven months after Nitin Nabin was appointed as the party’s 12th national president. The restructuring had been expected since the 46-year-old leader took charge, and the new team includes several senior leaders as well as representatives from different social groups. The BJP’s new national team has 12 women and follows the party’s established emphasis on social representation.
The appointments include leaders from different caste and tribal communities, reflecting the BJP’s organisational strategy of maintaining a broad representation across regions and social sections. The reshuffle is also aimed at giving Nabin a leadership team with which he can drive the party’s organisational priorities. Among the prominent changes, former Union minister Smriti Irani has returned to the BJP’s national organisation as a general secretary. She is the only woman among the party’s eight national general secretaries.
Ram Madhav, who previously served as a national general secretary, has also returned to the central team and has been appointed a national vice president. Former Tripura chief minister Biplab Deb has been appointed a national general secretary, adding another former state chief minister to the party’s organisational structure. The list of eight national general secretaries includes Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal, who have been retained. Harish Dwivedi, a former MP from Basti and the BJP’s recent Assam in-charge, has also been named among the general secretaries.

Former Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia has been appointed national general secretary, while Gajendra Patel of Madhya Pradesh, who belongs to the Other Backward Classes, and Sanjay Bhatia are also part of the new line-up. The appointments underline the party’s attempt to combine organisational experience with wider social and regional representation. Union minister Piyush Goyal has been appointed BJP treasurer, returning to a position he previously held between 2010 and 2014. Anil Baluni has retained responsibility as the party’s media in-charge. The inclusion of experienced leaders in key organisational roles provides continuity even as Nabin establishes his own national team.
The reshuffle comes as the BJP continues to strengthen its organisational structure under its new president. Nabin, who became the youngest-ever national president of the party at the age of 46, now has a team that includes both established leaders and figures returning to prominent organisational positions. The changes are expected to shape the party’s political and organisational strategy in the months ahead. The new appointments also reflect the BJP’s emphasis on social engineering, with representation given to leaders from different caste and community backgrounds.
By combining senior political figures, organisational veterans and representatives from various social groups, the party has sought to create a national team capable of handling its organisational priorities across states. With the announcement of the new office-bearers, the long-awaited organisational transition under Nabin has formally taken shape. The return of Smriti Irani and Ram Madhav, along with the elevation of leaders such as Biplab Deb and Satish Poonia, marks a significant restructuring of the BJP’s central organisation. The new team will now be tasked with advancing the party’s priorities under Nabin’s leadership.
