Bihar Government Announces Recruitment Of 1 Lakh Teachers Over 5 Years

Bihar launches major teacher recruitment and education reform plan.

The Bihar government has announced a major education reform plan that includes the recruitment of one lakh teachers over the next five years, alongside measures aimed at improving transparency in postings, strengthening school infrastructure, and enhancing the quality of education across the state. The announcement was made following a high-level review meeting chaired by Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary in Patna on Friday.

Under the proposed recruitment plan, around 20,000 teachers will be appointed every year, with official advertisements for vacancies to be issued annually in the month of July. The government said the move is intended to streamline the hiring process, reduce delays, and ensure a consistent supply of qualified teachers in government schools across Bihar.

Along with recruitment, the state government has also proposed a new teacher transfer policy designed to make postings more transparent and family-friendly. According to the plan, female teachers will, wherever possible, be posted within or near their home panchayat, while male teachers will be assigned to nearby blocks within their home district. Officials said this approach aims to balance administrative efficiency with personal convenience for teachers.

The Chief Minister also emphasised that ensuring access to quality education for all children remains a top priority for the government. He said that strengthening teacher availability, improving school functioning, and enhancing accountability in the education system are key objectives of the reform package being implemented across the state.

In another significant decision, the government announced that school uniforms for students will now be supplied through Jeevika Self Help Groups. Officials said this initiative will not only ensure timely distribution of uniforms but also create livelihood opportunities for women associated with self-help groups, thereby linking education welfare with rural empowerment.

The reforms come amid recent demands and protests by BPSC Teacher Recruitment Examination aspirants seeking timely recruitment notifications. Officials stated that the new policy measures are intended to address such concerns while improving overall efficiency, transparency, and inclusiveness in Bihar’s education system.
