Baloch Leader Sends Open Letter From Pakistan Soil to Jaishankar
Mir Yar Baloch pledges unwavering support, alerts on China threat.
Prominent Baloch human rights activist and nationalist leader Mir Yar Baloch issued a significant open letter directly addressed to India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar on January 1, 2026, conveying warm New Year greetings on behalf of the people of the self-declared Republic of Balochistan while emphasizing the deep-rooted historical, cultural, commercial, economic, diplomatic, and defence connections that have linked Balochistan with Bharat for centuries, invoking revered shared symbols such as the ancient Hinglaj Mata Temple as enduring testaments to this intertwined heritage.
In the correspondence, Baloch lavished praise on the Indian government's decisive and courageous military operations conducted under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's direction in 2025, specifically highlighting Operation Sindoor—a series of precision strikes that systematically dismantled Pakistan-supported terrorist infrastructure in response to the devastating Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in the loss of 26 innocent lives—as a profound example of India's unyielding commitment to upholding regional security, justice, and the fight against cross-border terrorism.
Baloch explicitly reaffirmed the resolute and unwavering support of the Baloch people for India and its leadership in cultivating comprehensive bilateral ties encompassing friendship, mutual trust, peace, prosperity, development, trade, defence cooperation, security collaboration, addressing emerging energy challenges, and countering hidden threats, positioning this solidarity as a natural extension of the shared struggles against common adversaries.

Amid references to nearly eight decades of alleged Pakistani state occupation, state-sponsored terrorism, enforced disappearances, and severe human rights violations in Balochistan, Baloch announced that the Republic of Balochistan—following its symbolic declaration of independence from Pakistan in May 2025—will organize and host the inaugural "2026 Balochistan Global Diplomatic Week" during the first week of January 2026, providing a platform for direct international engagement with nations worldwide to advance recognition and diplomatic relations.
Of particular urgency, Baloch sounded a stark warning regarding the rapidly intensifying strategic partnership between Pakistan and China, asserting that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor project has progressed to its conclusive phases and could precipitate the deployment of Chinese military forces on Balochistani soil within the coming months absent enhanced support for Baloch resistance capabilities, a development he described as constituting an existential threat not only to Baloch sovereignty but also to India's national security and regional stability, despite persistent official assertions from Beijing and Islamabad that CPEC initiatives remain strictly economic and developmental in character.
