Assam CM Reviews Preparations for PM Modi’s September Visit

Himanta oversees preparations for Modi’s September 8 events.

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday led a high-level review meeting to ensure seamless preparations for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the state on September 8, 2025. The visit, packed with significant project inaugurations and public engagements, underscores Assam’s development priorities, according to the chief minister’s office.

Sarma assessed arrangements at the Assam Police Convention Centre in Dergaon, Golaghat district, where Modi will inaugurate a Rs 4,200 crore bio-ethanol refinery at Numaligarh Refinery and address a public gathering. The chief minister directed officials to complete all preparations efficiently, emphasizing the importance of the event for Assam’s industrial growth. The meeting saw participation from key ministers, including Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, Finance Minister Ajanta Neog, Transport Minister Jogen Mohan, and others, alongside Chief Secretary Ravi Kota and DGP Harmeet Singh.

Modi’s itinerary includes further stops in Mangaldai, where he will lay the foundation for three major projects: the Rs 7,500 crore Guwahati Ring Road, a Brahmaputra bridge connecting Narengi and Kuruwa, and the Mangaldai Medical College and Hospital. These initiatives aim to boost connectivity, healthcare, and economic development in the region. The day will conclude in Guwahati with Modi launching the birth centenary celebrations of Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, honoring the cultural icon.
