Amit Shah To Attend Janata Darbar, Review Governance In Gujarat Today

Amit Shah holds Janata Darbar and reviews Gujarat governance.

Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to undertake a series of official engagements across Gandhinagar and Ahmedabad on Saturday, focusing on cooperative sector initiatives, development review meetings, and public grievance redressal programmes. The day-long itinerary includes the launch of a new mobility project, administrative reviews of central schemes, and participation in a public “Janata Darbar” event.

The day will begin at the Mahatma Mandir Convention and Exhibition Centre in Gandhinagar, where Shah will launch “Bharat Taxi (Gujarat),” a cooperative-based ride-hailing service developed under the Ministry of Cooperation. The initiative follows the “Saarthi Hi Maalik” model, under which drivers are also stakeholders in the platform. Officials have described the system as a zero-commission, driver-owned digital mobility service aimed at strengthening the cooperative sector in urban transport.

Following the launch, the Union Minister will chair a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) at the Circuit House in Sector-20, Gandhinagar. The meeting will review the implementation of central government schemes and district-level development projects. MPs, MLAs, and senior administrative officials are expected to participate in the review of ongoing programmes and progress indicators.

Later in the day, Shah will travel to Ahmedabad to hold two separate review meetings focused on the “Green Lok Sabha” initiative under the Gandhinagar parliamentary constituency. The first session, scheduled for 5:15 p.m., will involve government officials, followed by a second meeting at 6 p.m. with organisational representatives. The discussions are expected to assess progress under the “Samuhik Vriksharopan” (collective tree plantation) campaign and broader afforestation efforts aimed at increasing green cover in the region.

The “Green Gandhinagar” initiative has been a key focus of constituency-level planning, with authorities promoting large-scale plantation drives to improve environmental conditions and strengthen urban sustainability. Officials have also linked the programme with ongoing infrastructure and civic development efforts across Gandhinagar and nearby areas, highlighting its role in long-term ecological planning.

In the evening, at 7 p.m., the Union Minister will attend a public “Janata Darbar” in the Sabarmati Assembly segment at Swaminarayan International School in the Raniip area of Ahmedabad. The interaction will focus on addressing public grievances and constituency-level concerns from residents of Raniip and Sabarmati wards. Officials said the schedule reflects an emphasis on cooperative expansion, administrative review of welfare schemes, and direct public engagement across Gujarat.
