Amit Shah Targets 60% Votes and Full Sweep for NDA in Puducherry Polls
Amit Shah targets 60% vote share for NDA in Puducherry Assembly polls.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday addressed a BJP public meeting in Karaikal, urging voters to continue supporting the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in the upcoming Puducherry Assembly elections. Shah highlighted the NDA government’s achievements in governance, law and order, and development over the past five years.
Beginning his speech with prayers to Lord Shani of Thirunallar and Goddess Bhadrakali, Shah apologised for not speaking in Tamil, acknowledging its status as one of the world’s oldest languages. He said his visit aimed to outline the Modi–Rangasamy government’s accomplishments and expose the shortcomings of the previous regime led by former Chief Minister V. Narayanasamy.
Shah asserted that the NDA had brought political stability to Puducherry, ended corruption, and implemented initiatives to revive the textile sector and boost development. He claimed that no new industries were established under the previous Congress-led government, contrasting it with the NDA’s efforts to promote self-reliance and sustainable growth.

Focusing on electoral prospects, Shah recalled that the NDA had received 44% of the vote in the 2021 elections and confidently predicted a 60% vote share in 2026, aiming to win all 24 Assembly seats in the Union Territory. He urged voters to reaffirm their trust in the alliance to ensure continued governance.
Turning to national security, Shah criticised the Congress party, alleging that terror attacks from Pakistan were routine during its tenure. He paid tribute to the 40 CRPF personnel killed in the 2019 Pulwama terror attack and noted that under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India responded decisively with air strikes, marking a firm stance against terrorism.
Concluding his address, Shah emphasised the NDA’s commitment to stability, development, and law and order in Puducherry. He called on voters to support the alliance for sustained growth and a corruption-free administration, framing the upcoming elections as a choice between progress and regression.
