America First Is Not America Alone; says Tulsi Gabbard
Tulsi Gabbard Clarifies Trump’s ‘America First’ Stance at Raisina Dialogue
U.S. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard addressed the Raisina Dialogue on Tuesday, dispelling misconceptions about President Donald Trump’s ‘America First’ policy.
“It should not be misunderstood that ‘America First’ means America alone,” she said, aligning it with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘India First’ approach. Gabbard emphasized the synergy, noting, “I am confident that this partnership and friendship between our two countries will continue to grow.”
Highlighting the “huge opportunity” in India-U.S. relations, Gabbard pointed to Modi and Trump’s February meeting in Washington, D.C., where they outlined a vision for deeper ties—a bond she called a “reconnection of two old friends.” Her remarks, made during her first official India visit, follow Monday’s meetings with Modi and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, reinforcing a defence pact with New Zealand and counter-terrorism talks targeting groups like Sikhs for Justice.
Amid global unrest, Gabbard underscored Trump’s resolve, stating, “President Trump is committed to ensuring peace and security,” and “unwavering in securing peace with strength.” Her address positions the Modi-Trump rapport as a cornerstone for bilateral growth, blending national priorities with collaborative geopolitics.
