28 Starlink Satellites Successfully Launched SpaceX; Falcon 9 Booster Lands Safely

SpaceX deploys 28 Starlink satellites, expanding the global broadband network; the Falcon 9 booster lands on a drone ship.

SpaceX successfully expanded its Starlink megaconstellation on November 6, 2025, launching 28 new satellites into low-Earth orbit under the Group 11-14 mission from Vandenberg Space Force Base. The Falcon 9 rocket lifted off at 8:37 p.m. local time, marking the 142nd orbital flight of the year and the 102nd dedicated Starlink mission. Approximately 8.5 minutes after launch, the first-stage booster B1093 executed a flawless landing on the Pacific drone ship “Of Course I Still Love You”, completing its eighth flight and furthering SpaceX’s industry-leading reuse record.

The 28 satellites were deployed into a 53-degree orbital plane, joining the rapidly growing constellation that now numbers nearly 8,800 operational spacecraft. Equipped with advanced laser crosslinks and enhanced broadband capabilities, the new batch will bolster coverage in mid-latitude regions while improving redundancy for global high-speed internet service. The mission’s precision deployment was confirmed 65 minutes after liftoff, with all satellites reporting nominal health as they began autonomous orbit-raising manoeuvres.

This launch underscores SpaceX’s relentless pace, averaging more than one Starlink mission per week in 2025 despite regulatory scrutiny over orbital congestion. The constellation already serves over 5 million customers across 120 countries, including remote Antarctic research stations and maritime fleets. With plans to exceed 12,000 satellites by 2027—and potential expansion to 42,000—Starlink continues to redefine global connectivity, particularly in underserved rural and oceanic regions.

As the recovered booster prepares for its ninth flight and the upper stage completes de-orbiting, SpaceX has scheduled back-to-back East Coast launches this week. The Vandenberg success reinforces the company’s dominance in commercial spaceflight, delivering another step toward Elon Musk’s vision of a planet-wide internet backbone capable of supporting everything from real-time 8K streaming to autonomous vehicle networks.
