28 Nations Demand Gaza War End Now!
Israel rejects allies' call to halt Gaza offensive.
A coalition of 28 nations, including Britain, Japan, Canada, and Australia, issued a scathing joint statement on Monday, demanding an immediate end to the war in Gaza. The statement, a sharp escalation in tone from some of Israel's key allies, condemned the "inhumane killing of civilians" and the "dangerous" restrictions on humanitarian aid.
The foreign ministers highlighted the deaths of over 800 Palestinians seeking aid, calling the situation "horrifying." They accused Israel of denying essential humanitarian assistance, stating, "Israel must comply with international humanitarian law." The crisis has left Gaza's 2 million residents on the brink of famine, with 90% displaced, many repeatedly forced to flee.
Israel's Foreign Ministry fired back, labeling the statement "disconnected from reality" and blaming Hamas for prolonging the conflict by rejecting ceasefire proposals. U.S. Ambassador Mike Huckabee called the criticism "disgusting," urging pressure on Hamas instead. Germany, notably absent from the statement, expressed concern but stopped short of joining the coalition.

The war, sparked by Hamas' October 7, 2023, attack that killed 1,200 and took 251 hostages, has claimed over 59,000 Palestinian lives, per Gaza's Health Ministry. With ceasefire talks stalled and Israel vowing to continue until Hamas is defeated, the international call for peace grows louder—but its impact remains uncertain.
British Foreign Secretary David Lammy emphasized, "There is no military solution." Australian Minister Tony Burke echoed this, calling Gaza's destruction "indefensible." As global protests mount and an ICC arrest warrant looms over Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu, the question remains: will this pressure force a lasting ceasefire?
