14 Killed In US Strikes On Iran; Bahrain Issues Alert Amid Regional Tensions
US-Iran strikes intensify tensions as Gulf nations brace for fallout.
Fourteen people have been killed and 78 others injured following US military strikes on Iran over the past two days, according to Iran’s Ministry of Health. The casualties were reported as tensions between Washington and Tehran intensified, with Iran and the United States exchanging attacks across the Gulf region and raising fears of a wider conflict.
Iranian Health Ministry spokesman Hossein Kermanpour said US forces targeted five Iranian provinces during the strikes. Of the 78 injured, 47 people remain hospitalised, while others have been released after receiving medical treatment, according to statements reported by Al Jazeera. Iranian officials have described the attacks as a major escalation in the ongoing confrontation.
Meanwhile, Bahrain activated a nationwide emergency alert system after Iran announced retaliatory drone strikes against US military facilities and strategic locations in Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar. Bahrain’s Ministry of Interior issued a public warning through social media, urging citizens and residents to remain calm and move to the nearest safe locations following the sounding of sirens across the country.

Iran’s military said its retaliatory operations targeted several US-linked sites in the Gulf, including a Patriot missile system in Kuwait, an early warning satellite antenna facility in Qatar, and fuel storage areas associated with the US military presence in Bahrain. The attacks marked a significant expansion of the conflict beyond Iran’s borders and increased concerns among regional governments.
The latest exchange follows the breakdown of a ceasefire arrangement that had temporarily reduced hostilities. The conflict, which began on February 28 with US and Israeli strikes on Iranian targets, had reportedly been paused under a Pakistan-brokered memorandum of understanding. The truce collapsed after accusations that Iran had attacked commercial vessels in the Strait of Hormuz, leading to renewed US strikes on Iranian locations including Chabahar, Iranshahr, and Bushehr.
The situation has continued to worsen as leaders from both sides issue strong warnings. US President Donald Trump has threatened a major response to further Iranian attacks, while Iranian officials, including Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, have promised retaliation against Washington. Iran has also approached the United Nations Security Council, calling for international action against the renewed strikes. The escalation comes as Iran concludes a six-day state funeral period for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, whose burial took place at the Imam Reza shrine in Mashhad.
