India Steps Into the Global Silicon Race by Joining the Powerful US-Led Pax Silica

India formally enters a US-led alliance securing global AI and semiconductor supply chains.

India is set to formally join Pax Silica on Friday, a US-led strategic alliance established in December 2025 to safeguard the global AI and semiconductor supply chain and reduce dependence on non-aligned nations. The move will strengthen cooperation in critical minerals, semiconductors, and artificial intelligence, supporting a secure and resilient global technology ecosystem. It comes as India and the United States work to finalise a trade deal and other initiatives to solidify economic and technological ties following past tensions over tariffs imposed by Donald Trump.

Pax Silica currently includes Australia, Greece, Israel, Japan, Qatar, South Korea, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and the United Kingdom. The alliance focuses on all stages of the technology supply chain—from critical minerals like lithium and cobalt to high-tech manufacturing, AI model development, and digital infrastructure.

The initiative’s long-term goal is to unite technologically advanced nations to unlock the economic potential of AI, reduce coercive dependencies, and ensure secure, trusted digital systems. According to the Pax Silica Declaration, the alliance aims to shape AI-driven economies while protecting advanced technologies from theft, misuse, or external pressure.

By joining Pax Silica, India positions itself at the forefront of global tech collaboration, aligning with leading nations to secure critical resources, advance AI innovation, and strengthen its strategic role in the rapidly evolving global technology landscape.
