CCB Arrests Bengaluru Couple For Duping Job Seekers of Rs 25 Crore In Court Scam
Bengaluru couple arrested for duping hundreds of job seekers using forged court appointment orders.
A couple has been arrested in Bengaluru for allegedly running a large-scale job fraud racket that duped hundreds of aspirants by promising government jobs in the court system. Police estimate the total amount swindled in the scam to be around ₹25 crore, making it one of the significant employment fraud cases reported in the city in recent times.
The accused, identified as Jason D'Souza and Lavina, were taken into custody by the Central Crime Branch following multiple complaints from victims. Investigators said the duo targeted unemployed individuals and private sector workers, luring them with promises of secure D-group jobs in various courts.
According to police, the couple allegedly collected between ₹10 lakh and ₹25 lakh from each victim by claiming they had strong connections within the judicial system. To make their operation appear legitimate, they forged judges’ signatures and issued fake appointment letters. Victims were also called to hotels for supposed document verification processes, where they were shown counterfeit job offers to build trust.

When victims later followed up regarding their employment status, the accused reportedly delayed responses by citing administrative issues and eventually stopped answering calls altogether. Realising they had been cheated, several victims approached the Central Crime Branch and filed complaints, leading to the launch of a detailed investigation.
Police said the accused had also built a network of agents who helped identify potential victims and expand the scam’s reach, earning commissions in the process. During the probe, it was revealed that the couple had been arrested earlier in 2024 for a similar offence and had allegedly resumed their activities after release. The investigation is ongoing to identify more victims and others involved in the racket.
