Punjab Woman Arrested for Poisoning Son and Daughter with Rat Poison

Police have arrested a woman for allegedly poisoning her two minor children with rat poison in a case that has shocked residents of Bathinda district. The incident came to light after the deaths of the siblings within a span of about two weeks. Authorities said the matter is being treated with utmost seriousness. A detailed investigation is currently underway.

According to police, the first victim, an eight-year-old girl, died under suspicious circumstances around 15 days ago. Her six-year-old brother later died on Friday night, raising fresh alarm in the village. The close timing of the two deaths prompted suspicion among locals. Villagers subsequently approached the Phool police station demanding a thorough probe.

Preliminary investigations suggest the mother allegedly mixed rat poison in food given to the children. Officials are also examining claims that she may have conspired with relatives and another individual. One suspected accomplice is reportedly absconding. Police teams have been formed to trace the missing person.
