Odisha CM Mohan Charan Majhi Invites PM Modi For Government’s Second Anniversary Event

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has invited Prime Minister Narendra Modi to attend the celebrations marking two years of the Bharatiya Janata Party-led government in the state, during a meeting held in New Delhi on Monday. The invitation comes as the state prepares to observe its second anniversary in office, with a focus on governance achievements and development initiatives over the past two years.

According to official sources, Majhi met the Prime Minister during his visit to the national capital and discussed a range of issues related to Odisha’s development priorities. These included infrastructure expansion, attracting investment, and the implementation of key welfare schemes aimed at improving public services across the state. The meeting is part of the state government’s ongoing engagement with the Centre to accelerate development projects.

In a post on social media platform X, Majhi said he briefed the Prime Minister on Odisha’s progress and expressed gratitude for the Centre’s continued support. He also formally extended the invitation for Modi to attend the anniversary celebrations. The Chief Minister highlighted that discussions also touched upon strategic measures to further strengthen the state’s economic growth trajectory and improve governance delivery systems.

Majhi is also scheduled to meet several Union ministers and senior leaders during his stay in Delhi, as part of efforts to coordinate administrative and developmental initiatives between the state and central governments. Officials said these meetings are expected to focus on project approvals, funding support, and policy alignment for ongoing and upcoming schemes in Odisha.

Meanwhile, the Odisha government has decided to observe the second anniversary celebrations in a restrained manner. Officials said the decision was taken in light of the prevailing geopolitical situation in West Asia, with an emphasis on keeping the observance simple and focused on governance outcomes rather than large-scale public events.

The state leadership has also directed departments to prioritise showcasing achievements and policy implementation over ceremonial functions. The anniversary programme is expected to highlight progress in infrastructure, welfare delivery, and investment promotion, reflecting the government’s development agenda over its first two years in office.
