Ayush Ministry and Zepto Join Hands For Online Sale of Traditional Medicines

The Ayush Ministry and Zepto MoU enables the online sale of quality traditional medicines.

The Ministry of Ayush has entered into a strategic partnership with quick-commerce platform Zepto Limited to enable the online sale of Ayush medicines and wellness products across India, officials said on Wednesday. The collaboration was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Zepto and the Ayush Export Promotion Council (AYUSHEXCIL).

According to the ministry, the MoU aims to improve digital discovery and consumer access to traditional healthcare products while maintaining strict quality, safety, and regulatory standards. The partnership is expected to strengthen consumer trust in Ayush medicines by ensuring that only compliant and verified products are made available through digital platforms.

Addressing the occasion via a video message, Union Ayush Minister Prataprao Jadhav said innovation-driven Indian startups are playing an increasingly important role in improving last-mile access to trusted wellness products. He noted that collaborations with credible technology platforms such as Zepto demonstrate how digital infrastructure can be responsibly leveraged to connect India’s traditional knowledge systems with modern distribution channels.

The minister added that the initiative aligns with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of integrating India’s rich Ayush heritage with transparent, technology-enabled systems. He said the partnership would empower consumers to make informed choices while expanding market opportunities for Ayush manufacturers without compromising on quality or safety.

The MoU was signed in the presence of Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, Secretary, Ministry of Ayush, and executed by Anurag Sharma, Chairman of AYUSHEXCIL, and Kaivalya Vohra, co-founder and CEO of Zepto. Sharma said the collaboration creates a structured pathway for Ayush manufacturers, particularly micro, small and medium enterprises, to reach digital consumers nationwide.

Kotecha said ensuring product quality, regulatory compliance and public trust remains a key priority for the ministry. He added that the partnership would strengthen quality assurance mechanisms, including the promotion of the Ayush Quality Mark, while supporting the responsible dissemination of accurate and science-backed information on traditional healthcare practices.
