#JUSTIN: Driver Arrested For Killing Bihar Municipal Officer Vimal Kumar

The alleged murder of Dehri-Dalmianagar Municipal Council Executive Officer Vimal Kumar has triggered both a criminal investigation and a political controversy in Bihar, after his family accused a local MLA of being part of a wider conspiracy. Police have arrested Kumar's driver, Mithilesh Kumar, who is accused of killing the municipal officer following an argument during their journey from Rohtas to Patna. The MLA named by the family has denied all allegations, rejecting claims of any involvement in the incident.

According to police, Vimal Kumar had left Rohtas on Saturday evening after attending an official programme and was travelling to Patna, a journey of around four hours. He was accompanied by his driver, Mithilesh Kumar. Investigators said an argument reportedly broke out between the two during the journey, allegedly over a request related to a toilet break, which later turned violent. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of Barun police station in Aurangabad district.

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police Upendra Nath Verma said the driver initially informed the police about the incident before inconsistencies in his account raised suspicion. During the investigation, police questioned Mithilesh Kumar, following which he was arrested in connection with the alleged murder. Authorities are continuing their probe to establish the exact sequence of events and determine the motive behind the killing.

The case took a political turn after members of Vimal Kumar's family alleged that the murder was not merely the result of a personal dispute but part of a larger conspiracy involving a local legislator. The family has demanded a thorough investigation into the circumstances surrounding the officer's death and urged the authorities to examine all possible angles. However, the MLA accused by the family has categorically denied the allegations and dismissed them as baseless.

Police have not officially confirmed any evidence supporting claims of a political conspiracy. Investigators have stated that the inquiry remains ongoing and that all aspects of the case are being examined based on available evidence. Officials have appealed for restraint, emphasising that conclusions should not be drawn until the investigation is completed and forensic and witness evidence has been fully assessed.

The killing has drawn significant public and political attention in Bihar, highlighting concerns over the safety of government officials and the need for a transparent investigation. As the probe continues, authorities are expected to question additional witnesses and analyse available evidence to determine whether the crime stemmed solely from the reported altercation or if any wider conspiracy was involved.
