YouTubers, Activists Summoned in Dharmasthala Probe
SIT questions six over Dharmasthala rape, burial case.
The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the chilling allegations of rapes, murders, and secret burials in Dharmasthala summoned six individuals, including three YouTubers from Kerala, for questioning on Tuesday. The high-profile case, which has gripped Karnataka with its shocking claims, centers on the discovery of human skulls and bones in the temple town, fueling intense speculation online.
The SIT, led by Director General of Police Pronab Mohanty, questioned YouTubers Manaf, Abhishek, and Jayanth T, alongside activists Girish Mattannavar, Vithal Gowda, and Pradeep. Authorities are scrutinizing the content produced by the YouTubers, focusing on the sources and veracity of their claims, which have amplified public discourse around the case. “The inquiry is in its preliminary stage, and more individuals may be summoned as we progress,” an SIT official stated, withholding further details to protect the investigation’s integrity.
The case erupted after a complainant, C.N. Chinnaiah, alleged he was coerced into burying numerous bodies, including those of women showing signs of sexual assault, over several years in Dharmasthala. Chinnaiah, later arrested for perjury after forensic tests revealed discrepancies in his claims, implicated temple administrators, sparking widespread controversy. The SIT is meticulously examining both physical evidence, such as skeletal remains, and digital material circulating on platforms like YouTube.
