Kerala Protests : Youth Congress Storms Alappuzha, Demands Kerala Health Minister’s Resignation Over Hospital Tragedy!

Protests escalate as Youth Congress clashes with police, blaming Veena George for negligence in Kottayam Medical College collapse.

The Youth Congress intensified its campaign against Kerala Health Minister Veena George on Friday, staging a fiery protest in Alappuzha over the tragic death of 52-year-old Bindu in a building collapse at Kottayam Government Medical College Hospital. The activists marched to the District Medical Officer’s (DMO) office, demanding George’s resignation for alleged negligence in the incident.

Chanting slogans and confronting police barricades, the protesters faced water cannons as they attempted to breach security lines. Visuals on TV channels showed Youth Congress members sitting on the road in defiance, with several leaders arrested and removed by police amidst efforts to block the vehicles.

The protests, ongoing since July 3, 2025, were sparked by the collapse of a 68-year-old toilet complex at Kottayam Medical College, which killed Bindu and injured three others, including an 11-year-old girl. Opposition parties, including Congress and BJP, have accused George of delaying rescue operations by claiming the collapsed building was unused, a claim contradicted by bystanders who said it was still in use.
