Yogi Condemns Post On Akhilesh's Daughter As SP Targets BJP Discourse
Yogi condemns post; SP blames BJP for discourse decline.
A political controversy erupted in Uttar Pradesh after alleged AI-generated posts targeting Aditi Yadav, the daughter of Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav, circulated on social media. The incident prompted strong reactions from both the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the opposition SP, with leaders condemning the alleged content and calling for strict action against those responsible.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath condemned the alleged derogatory remarks and said attempts to insult the SP chief's daughter would not be tolerated. Speaking at an event in Azamgarh on Saturday, Adityanath described the comments as disgraceful and said he had directed the police to register an FIR in the matter. He also advised Akhilesh Yadav to ensure that no further objectionable remarks were made by members of his party, stating that such conduct should be dealt with firmly.
The controversy intensified after SP MLA Mohammad Hasan Roomi announced a cash reward of Rs 1.11 lakh for the first police personnel who apprehends the accused behind the posts. The legislator, who represents the Cantt Assembly constituency in Kanpur, alleged that political discourse had deteriorated to a point where family members of political leaders were being targeted. He called for strict legal action and public condemnation of those responsible for creating and circulating the content.

Roomi also urged the government to strengthen cybercrime laws, arguing that existing provisions often fail to ensure swift action against offenders. He described the alleged misuse of artificial intelligence to alter photographs and spread defamatory material as a serious concern requiring stronger legal safeguards and enforcement mechanisms.
Supporting the party's stand, SP MLA Amitabh Bajpai said political disagreements should remain confined to public issues and not extend to family members. He backed the complaint filed by Praveen Yadav, national secretary of the SP Adhivakta Sabha, and stressed that dragging children and relatives into political battles was against democratic norms and values.
The episode has triggered a broader debate over the use of artificial intelligence in online campaigns and the declining standards of political discourse. While the SP has accused the BJP of failing to curb such behaviour, leaders across the political spectrum have called for accountability and stricter measures to prevent the misuse of digital technologies for personal attacks and misinformation.
