WPL 2026 Final: RCB Create History As First Team To Chase Highest IPL-WPL Final Total

RCB wins the WPL 2026 title after a record-breaking 204-run chase in the final.

Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) created history on a landmark night in the Women’s Premier League (WPL) 2026 final, clinching their second league title while pulling off a record-breaking run chase. The victory also saw RCB become the first franchise to hold both the IPL and WPL titles simultaneously, marking a rare double in Indian franchise cricket.

RCB’s triumph came after successfully chasing down a target of 204 runs, the highest chase ever recorded in an IPL or WPL final. The achievement surpassed Kolkata Knight Riders’ 200-run chase in the 2014 IPL final and set a new benchmark for high-pressure finals. It was also the first instance of a target above 175 being chased in any women’s T20 final, across leagues or international competitions.

Batting first, Delhi Capitals (DC) posted a formidable 203 for 4 in 20 overs, the highest total in a WPL final. Lizelle Lee and Shafali Verma provided a brisk start before Jemimah Rodrigues anchored the innings with a captain’s knock of 57. Laura Wolvaardt added stability, while Chinelle Henry’s unbeaten late cameo powered DC to a commanding total.

RCB’s chase began with an early setback as Grace Harris was dismissed cheaply. However, captain Smriti Mandhana and Georgia Voll turned the game decisively with a stunning 165-run partnership. Mandhana struck an aggressive 87 off 41 balls, while Voll contributed a composed 79, keeping RCB firmly in control for most of the innings.

Despite DC striking back with a few late wickets, RCB held their nerve in the closing moments. Radha Yadav and Nadine de Klerk calmly finished the chase, sealing the win with six wickets in hand and two balls to spare. The chase also became the most successful run pursuit in WPL history, surpassing RCB’s own 202-run chase from the 2025 season.

Mandhana was named Player of the Match for her match-defining performance. The win not only underlined RCB’s dominance in women’s cricket but also cemented their place in franchise history with a feat yet unmatched across the IPL and WPL.
