Woman Strangled, Hidden in Bed Box at Delhi PG; Three Men Arrested

Police recovered the victim's body after a suspicious PG owner alerted authorities in Mangolpuri.

The body of a 35-year-old woman was discovered stuffed inside a double bed storage box at a paying guest (PG) accommodation in the Mangolpuri area of outer Delhi, police officials confirmed on Wednesday. The victim bore visible strangulation marks, raising suspicions of murder. Authorities have arrested three individuals in connection with the case, and an investigation is currently underway to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to police, the accused have been identified as Surendra alias Bobby, Joginder, and Deepak, aged 22, all residents of Mangolpuri. The arrests were made following a preliminary investigation into the death, which came to light after a PCR call was received at the Mangolpuri police station on April 7. The caller reported that a woman had been found in suspicious circumstances inside a room in a building located in the Patthar Market area.

The police team that responded to the call conducted a thorough inspection of the premises, where a PG facility was being operated on the third floor by a man identified as Amarjeet, 31. During the search, officers recovered the woman’s body from inside the storage compartment of a bed. Officials noted that the victim had clear strangulation marks around her neck, along with a visible injury on her forehead, indicating possible physical assault prior to her death.

Forensic experts and crime scene investigators were immediately called to the location, and evidence was collected for further examination. The deceased was later identified as a local resident of Mangolpuri. Preliminary findings revealed that the woman had been in a relationship with one of the accused, Deepak, who is also married. This aspect is being closely examined as part of the investigation.

Police stated that on the afternoon of April 7, the woman had arrived at the PG accommodation around 4:30 pm and met Deepak. The two reportedly stayed in a room for approximately an hour. After Deepak and the others left the premises, the PG owner became suspicious of the situation and alerted the authorities, which ultimately led to the discovery of the body.

Investigators have indicated that the other two accused, Surendra and Joginder, were also present at the PG during the incident. Authorities are exploring multiple angles, including the possibility of sexual harassment and any dispute that may have escalated into violence. A case has been registered under relevant sections, including murder, under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita on April 8, and the accused are currently being interrogated as police work to reconstruct the sequence of events leading to the woman’s death.
